As a self-taught book-binder, who actively used books in her artistic practice, Jonna began making books for fellow artists, friends and family in 2006. By 2008 she had officially founded Twigg’s Bindery with commissions from galleries and small publishing houses, and by 2012 she was selling blank journals and sketchbooks online. Over the subsequent years Twigg’s Bindery became an award winning business that would be recognized for its authenticity, innovative designs, and for its impeccable hand craft. Profiles of Twigg’s Bindery and Jonna’s Brooklyn workshop appeared in the New York Times, the seminal book In The Company of Women, as well as countless magazine write ups in places like Vogue, Fortune, New York Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and the Financial Times.
After fifteen years in New York City Jonna has taken a creative hiatus and moved back to Ohio for some much needed space and time. Twigg’s Bindery currently operates as a custom order business, and remains engaged in art of books.
