REALM

June in GalleryB hosts artist Alex Paat. Alex creates irreverent sculptures, often using lit components against ceramic and found objects to enhance their awkward playful nature. Nature too, seems to be at the core of Alex’s work, with images featuring trees, the sun, and various animals. The works will be on display from June 5-27. A public opening will take place on June 5 from 6-8pm.

ABOUT ALEX
Alex Paat is a visual artist who uses ceramics and neon to examine language, life-source, and the geometry of affection. He holds an M.F.A. in Ceramics from the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology (NY) and a B.A. in Studio Art from Cedarville University (OH). After completing a year-long assistantship to potter Justin Rothshank in 2020, Paat worked in the ceramics materials industry at Mayco Colors while maintaining active involvement at craft schools across the U.S. In 2025, he was accepted into Haystack Mountain School of Crafts’ inaugural Artist Grant Initiative Cohort.

Currently, Paat maintains an active exhibition schedule and serves as the 2024–2026 Student Director at Large on the board of NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts). He lives in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio with his wife Shannon and their son.
