In August, Blockfort hosts artist Whitney Brewer and her unapologetic documentary exhibition The Red Thread

From the artist:
“The world calls our blood shameful and disgusting; I’m putting it on the walls. The Red Thread is twelve cycles of my life and body documented without a single apology. This is the evidence of womanhood. I am bringing the messy parts of my cycle to the light: the large-scale images, the blood-stained garments, and the journal entries I wrote during my heaviest bleeds. It is meant to be uncomfortable. It is meant to be educational. It is a physical archive of the superpower we’ve been taught to hide so that we can keep up with a world that demands we be linear. This is the power and truth of the menstrual cycle & the people who experience them.”

The exhibition runs from August 6-27, 2027.
The opening reception will be held on August 6, 6-8pm.
