By night, Jamie is a local performance artist by the name of Jamz Dean.

Jamz Dean was born in the rugged hills of Wheeling, WV. There he studied the art of ballet, acrobatics, tap, belly dancing and appalachian clogging among the squirrels. He was drafted into the West Family (a local drag troupe) by Nina West in 2010. He worked his way up from Set Maker/Toilet-Puppet Operator to Mulleted-Heartthrob in a few short years. Now you can find him living in your basement.

But you don’t have to take my word for it!
Lettuce hear what the critics have to say:

"Stealing the show in an ensemble cast isn't easy, but it's become a habit for Jamie. Whether it's a gender-bending tribute to “Weird" Al Yankovic or portraying Adolf Hitler, her dedication to the art of drag is unquestionable. And her physical comedy will leave you in stitches and have you coming back time-after-time." - Dr. Randy Sharma

"Jamie Sommer, a.k.a. Jamz Dean, is an artist, performer, and eyewear connoisseur based out of Columbus, OH. Sommer's work is an innovative combination of poignant, modern, social commentary mixed with optimistic whimsy, viewed through the lens of a surreal fever-dream. Her pervasive deconstructions of masculinity and popular culture provide a groundbreaking analysis of the human condition in the 21st century. Whether creating salient works of visual art, or performing as one of the finest drag kings of the modern era, Sommer's commitment to detail and context sets her work far apart from other artists. Jamie Sommer is truly a revolutionary before her time, and her work will surely resonate for generations to come." - Megan Simcox (Founder/Director of ACTive Roles Theatre Company)

"You are always left on the edge of your seat because you never know what is going to be said or done next. Jamie Sommer is a captivating experience that you would want to see on a regular basis. She represents strength, creativity, power, and love. She is ART.” - Mariah Ward (Important Public Figure)

"Her work shows strong influence from post modernism, "Weird Al" Yankovic and Spandex." - John Olson (Un-important Public Figure)

"I can't sit still, so instead, I dance. Everything that I create is either a costume inspiration, a set/backdrop idea or comedy/performance based. I use color, pattern, texture and humor as an escape from the real world.” - Jamie Sommer
