Blockfort is excited to present this limited time pop-up Exhibition by Tis and Vitaly, two artists from Belgium making work collectively. The exhibition is presented by the Paulucci Collection.
Tis Zamler-Carhart (b. 1975) and Vitaly Zamler (b. 1994) are an artist duo based in New York, Brussels, and the North of France. Their medium is digital photography augmented by studio installations. Their work explores the architectural spaces and household objects of late capitalism using transparency, superposition, and cartoon layouts on materials such as textiles and metal. Their artistic research is organized in archaeological fieldwork cycles and occasionally supplemented by academic publications. Their work is held in numerous private collections and regularly exhibited in the U.S., Europe, and Africa.
Tis (they/them) holds degrees in law, linguistics, and philosophy from Stanford University, taught trans-disciplinary design at New York’s Parsons School of Design, medieval music at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (Netherlands), and is the author of two books of fictional Byzantine history. Vitaly (he/him), Tis’s adopted son, holds degrees in urban geography from the Free University of Brussels and in philology from the University of Silesia (Poland). Both had musical careers, Tis as a classical composer and singer, Vitaly as the bassist in a Russian post-rock band.
